My floral Story

Mildly Wild Flowers, is a small scale sustainable cut flower garden located in Revelstoke, BC, with a focus on cut flower sales and subscriptions.

I grew up in Jervis Bay on the stunning south coast of New South Wales, Australia- where the bush meets the sea in the wildest, most beautiful way. From as far back as I can remember, I was obsessed with the native wildflowers that dotted the landscape—vivid waratahs glowing like fire in the bush and soft, resilient flannel flowers clinging to windswept sandstone cliffs and outcrops.

That love for nature led me to study environmental science and education at university. I was fascinated by how everything in the natural world connects. Outside of class, you’d find me hiking, riding horses through the scrub, and just soaking up as much time outdoors as possible. Eventually, that love for adventure took me halfway across the world to Revelstoke, BC—a very wild town where people ski hard, bike fast, and push limits in the mountains every day.

Figuring out my place in a town like this meant embracing my own kind of wild—one that felt a little softer, a little slower, but still deeply rooted in nature. It started with my personal Instagram handle, Mildly Wild, a playful nod to my love for the outdoors but at a pace that felt right for me. Without realizing it, that little name started to take on a life of its own. Before long, it had bloomed into —a small-scale cut flower garden.

Gardening found me at a time when I really needed it. After a few rough injuries and then the heartbreaking loss of my dear friend and roommate, Sam. My little garden space (or mini homestead, as I like to think of it) gave me something to nurture, something to pour my heart into. And in return, it gave me inspiration, solace, and a quiet kind of joy.

Before I knew it, my little garden patch was overflowing with blooms. I started sharing them with friends, picking each stem with care, thinking about what they’d love most. It became my way of saying, “Thank you for... being such a beautiful person in my life.. caring for me...  & I'm sorry for....”

At first, I had no idea where it was all leading. I just knew that flowers made people feel something—that they softened a hard day, brightened a space, and brought a little extra magic into the world.

So, I kept growing flowers that I loved giving. And now, I get to share that love with my community.

Mildly Wild Flowers is a reflection of that journey—a love letter to the landscapes that shaped me, to the flowers that remind me to slow down, and to the simple joy of sharing something beautiful.

Grown with care, always nurtured with homemade compost and organic fertilizers.

Harvested by hand, arranged with heart, and ready to bring a little brightness to your day.

Land Acknowledgement

Long before I arrived, and long after I leave, Indigenous Peoples have maintained deep, essential relationships with this land. I live today on the banks of the Columbia River—also known as the Swift River—in what is now called Revelstoke, BC. This land is sacred to many Indigenous groups, including the Ktunaxa, Syilx Okanagan, Secwepemc, and Sinixt Peoples, who have lived, hunted, gathered, traded, and cared for these lands and waters for countless generations.

This place is especially significant for the Sinixt, or People of the Bull Trout, who were, until recently, wrongfully declared “extinct” in Canada—a painful reminder of the ongoing impacts of colonialism and the erasure of Indigenous presence.

The land I live and grow on is rich, diverse, powerful, and awe-inspiring. It calls for attention—to the rhythms of the river, the soft rains of spring and fall, and the winter snow that replenishes the soil. I’m deeply grateful to live here, and to be able to grow flowers on this land that offers so much.

I am continually learning, and doing my best to grow native plants that support local pollinators, while deepening my understanding of the plants that truly belong to this landscape.

This land shapes how I live and how I work. It inspires me to tread lightly, to stay curious, and to act with care.
